5.2 mln fake Nepali currencies seized in Kathmandu; 9 held with printing machine

Police have arrested nine individuals with over Rs 5.2 million fake bank notes in Kathmandu.

They were arrested with over 5 million and 275 thousand rupees fake notes from Gongabu New Bus Park, Kathmandu and Budhathoki village of Changunarayan Municipality-4, Bhaktapur.

Security personnel on duty recovered a carton packed with 3,573 notes of 1000 denomination from a bus with a green number plate, Lu 1 Pa 5, coming to Kathmandu from Lumbini from Nagdhunga checkpoint, said police.

The carton had been sent saying that it contained pickle from Lumbini Bus Park.

A joint team from the Police Circle, Thankot and from Nagdhunga investigated driver and the co-driver of the bus after taking them into custody.

In the course of investigation, 1,702 notes of Rs 1,000 denomination were recovered from Gongabu Bus Park and Changunarayan, said police.
