The mortal remains of Mukunda Rijal, the ward chairman of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16, was draped in a flag of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
Kin and friends and wishers, and leaders thronged the City Hall, Kathmandu to pay floral tributes to Raijal.
Rijal, who was also the president of Nepali Congress Kathmandu-7, passed away in the course of treatment at Grande International Hospital this morning. He had been admitted to the hospital after he complained of pneumonia on September 3.
Kathmandu Metropolitan Mayor Balendra Shah, Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol, former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa paid tributes to the departed soul, by draping a flag of Kathmandu metropolis over his body.
After the tribute paying ceremony, Rijal’s mortal remains will be taken to Pashupati Aryghat where he will be consigned to flames.
He is survived by a wife and two sons.
