The mortal remains of late CPN (UML) Vice Chairman and former Speaker Subas Nembang has been cremated with state honors at Pashupati Aryaghat on Thursday.
Funeral rites for Nemabang has been performed according to Limbu and Hindu traditions.
His eldest son Mingso and youngest son Suhang lit the funeral pyre after ministers, leaders and well-wishers paid floral tributes to the mortal remains of Nembang.
Meanwhile, the Nepali Army offered last salutes as part of state honors as decided by the government.
Maoist Center Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, former Prime Minister and UML Chairman KP Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Rastriya Janamorcha Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC among others attended the funeral rites of Nembang.
A member of the House of Representatives representing Ilam-2, Nembang died of cardiac arrest around 2 am Tuesday (September 12).
Nembang had become the Speaker of the reinstated House of Representatives in 2063 BS, the Speaker of the Legislature Parliament in 2064 BS. He had also served as the Chairperson and the Speaker of the Constituent Assembly in 2065 BS and 2070 BS and the Speaker in 2072 BS.
He served as the member of the National Assembly from 2048 BS to 2052 BS before becoming as the member of the House of Representatives.
Nembang, who developed his image as an accommodative political figure, had been elected as a lawmaker in the House of Representatives elections in 2065 BS and in the Constituent Assembly elections in 2064 and 2070 BS from Ilam-2.
