SAFF U19: India beats Nepal to reach final

Home team Nepal has lost to India in the semi-final match of the SAFF U19 Championship held at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar on Wednesday.

The match which went into a tiebreaker after both the teams could not score any more goals in the extra time.

In the tiebreaker, Nepal lost to India. Nepal's Ashwin Ghorasaini and Kushal Deuba scored goals. Bikram Tamang's shot went wide. Lakshu Thapa's shot went off the crossbar. Prashant Laksam's shot was saved by Indian goalkeeper Lionel Derrel.

India's Arjun Singh, Gwgwmsar Goyary, Manglentheng Kipgen scored goals. Ricky Meetei’s shot went over the bar. Dinesh Singh's shot was saved by Nepal's goalkeeper Ziarath Sheikh.

With the bitter defeat against India, Nepali players broke down in tears on the field amidst hundreds of domestic spectators.

Earlier, Nepal had equalized the score 1-1 after Samir Tamang scored a goal for Nepal in the 74th minute.

India took a 1-0 lead in the first half. Shahil Khurshid scored a goal for India in the 26th minute of the game. 

After Nepal conceded a goal in the first half, hundreds of Nepali spectators who reached the Dasharath Stadium were disappointed. 

With this win, now India will face Pakistan for the title. Pakistan reached the final for the first time.
