Two cargo planes of the Chinese army landed at Pokhara International Airport on Wednesday morning carrying relief materials for the Jajarkot earthquake victims from China.

The relief materials will be delivered to the earthquake-affected areas in coordination with the Nepal government.

China, the northern neighbor, has announced relief for the earthquake victims in two phases.

China, which sent relief materials worth 100 million rupees for the affected on Monday, announced an additional relief worth 273 million rupees on Tuesday.

According to Ambassador Chen, the aid of 15 million RMB (260 million rupees) from Chinese government and 100,000 USD (13 million rupees) from the Red Cross Society of China was announced on Tuesday.

Earlier, the trucks carrying relief materials in the first phase arrived in Nepal on Monday through the Jilong-Rasuwa Port.

Relief materials included 2,300 tents, 2,000 blankets, 700 tarpaulin sheets, 500 sprayers, informed Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen.

An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale struck hilly districts of Karnali Province, with its epicenter at Ramidanda in Jajarkot last Friday night, leaving scores of people dead and hundreds of others injured.
