Rio declared ‘the Best Dog of the Year’ (with photos)

Nepal Police have worshipped dogs on the occasion of Kukur Tihar, the second day of Yamapanchak on Sunday.

The trained dogs were worshipped amidst rituals and distribution of medals and certificates at the Nepal Police Canine Division, Maharajgunj this morning.

During the program, trained dogs of Nepal Police performed various skills including high jump, hurdles, running, criminal identification, arms and drugs detection and identification, among others.

Rio has been recognized as the best dog in the crime investigation this year. Rio, a dog of the German Shepherd breed was declared the Best Dog of the Year, 2023,” said DSP Ram Chandra Satyal of the Nepal Police Canine Division, “It did a splendid job in investigating three to four crimes.”

Likewise, Tiger, another dog of German shepherd breed, has won the first position in running. Similarly, Rose of the Belgian shepherd breed has won the first prize in hurdles and high jumps.

The winners were awarded with medals and certificates by Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal Police, Tek Bahadur Tamang.
