The Nepal government has decided to shut down social media platform Tiktok in Nepal.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers on Sunday took a decision to this effect, said Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma.

"A meeting of the Council of Ministers decided to shut down social media platform TikTok as it disrupted social harmony in the society."

When will Tiktok be closed?
In response to a journalist's question as to when it will be closed, Minister Sharma said that it may be closed from today. She said, "As long as it is technically possible, it may be closed from today as well. Technicians will start working on it."

Minister Sharma further said that the Communications Ministry and Nepal Telecommunications Authority have geared up for preparations.
