Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RSS) leader Ambar Bahadur Bista has been elected unopposed as the speaker of Koshi Province Assembly.
Deputy Speaker Sirjana Danuwar announced Bista’s election as the speaker unopposed in a meeting of the province assembly on Tuesday.
The ruling alliance had decided to allocate the post of speaker to the RPP. Bista was elected unopposed after the main opposition CPN (UML) did not field its candidacy for the post.
RPP Parliamentary Party leader Bhakti Thapa proposed Bista as the candidate for the post of speaker and it was seconded by Provincial Assembly member Prem Raj Thamsuhang.
