Seven held for operating crypto online games

Police have arrested seven individuals on the charge of operating online games through illegal crypto currencies, such as bitcoin.

Acting on a tip-off, the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office rounded up seven people for operating MilkyWay, GameVault, FireKirin, Vegas Sweeps, and Orion Stars through the use of bitcoin (cash app).

The arrested are 24-year-old Mithilesh Kumar Mandal of Lahan Municipality-10, Siraha, Murari Sah, 24, of Laxmipur Patari Rural Municipality, Aryan Sah, 24, Anish Kumar Rauniyar and Roshan Chaudhary Jaiswal, 26, of Lahan-1, Shahid Chowk, Shivam Kumar Yadav, 23, and Hari Shankar Chudhary, 24, of Sukipur Municipality-2.

The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office made them public on Tuesday after arresting them from various places of Kathmandu. They were found to have been operating games by using foreigners’ Facebook accounts, said DSP Nirmal Thapa.

He said they are investigating the case to determine the size of the transaction they carried out.

All kinds of crypto currencies including bitcoin is banned in Nepal.
