Baluwatar land scam: Min Bahadur Gurung gets 2 yrs in jail

The Special Court on Thursday sentenced Min Bahadur Gurung, the owner of Bhatbhateni Supermarket, to two years in jail along with a fine of Rs 8,040,000 for his involvement in the high-profile Baluwatar land scam.

Hearing on the writ, a bench of Judges Khusi Prasad Tharu, Ram Bahadur Thapa and Ritendra Thapa issued this verdict convicting Gurung for his role in transferring the ownership of the government land to his name and his relatives.

Earlier, Gurung had been released on a bail of 20 million rupees.

The anti-graft body on February 5, 2020 had filed a case against 175 individuals including Gurung at the Special Court concluding that 136 ropanis of Lalita Niwas land had been embezzled.
