The District Court Chitwan on Tuesday released all the three individuals accused in the abetment of suicide case of Shaleen Pokharel found dead at the hostel of Ekata Shishu Niketan in Ratnanagar-10, Chitwan.
A single bench of Judge Ramesh Pramesh Prasad Gyawali issued an order to forward a case against the three arrested teachers by releasing them on a bail.
Following a 20-day long investigation into the case, an abetment of suicide case was filed against Principal Balhari Devkota, teachers Kiran Bahadur Adhikari and Kamal Prasad Sharma.
Following the bail-hearing that continued since Monday, Judge Gyawali issued the order releasing Principal Balhari Devkota on a bail of Rs 300,000 and Vice Principal Kiran Bahadur Adhikari and hostel warden Kamal Prasad Sharma on a bail of Rs 500,000 each.
The Office of the District Attorney, Chitwan on Sunday filed an abetment of suicide case at the District Court Chitwan against the three teachers in the death of Shaleen based on the investigation report of the police.
The bail-hearing was conducted on Monday to decide on whether the case be initiated by keeping in the judicial custody or releasing them on a bail. The hearing continued till Tuesday.
Shaleen, 14, who had been staying at the school's hostel had committed suicide at 10:15 am on February 24.
Immediately after the incident, Shaleen's father Dipendra Pokharel lodged an FIR against three teachers of the school on murder and rape charges.
All the three teachers were arrested on February 27 – the day when Shaleen’s father filed an FIR at the police station against them.
However, the report of postmortem, suicide note, and forensic report did not support the claim made by the petitioner.
After concluding that she committed suicide, a case of abetment of suicide was filed at the court arguing that the three teachers were found guilty in abetting Shaleen to commit suicide.
