Two people died in a deadly gang fight that took place at Dholahiti in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-26, Lalitpur on Sunday night.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP), Naresh Raj Subedi, two boys lost their lives in the gang fight that occurred at Dholahiti around 11 pm yesterday.
"Twenty-eight-year-old Robas Rai and Pujan Rai of around 29 years died in the deadly gang fight," SP Subedi said, "We have taken 18 individuals under control on the suspicion of their involvement in the incident."
The deceased sustained deep knife injuries to their chests and thighs. Robas breathed his last at Patan Hospital while Pujan passed away at Sumeru Hospital in the course of treatment, informed SP Subedi.
"After being tipped off about the incident at 11 pm, our team reached the incident site," Subedi said, "The boys who sustained critical injuries in the gang fight had passed away by that time."
Pujan, who originally hails from Panchthar, was currently staying at a rented room in Khumatar of Lalitpur while Robas from Dharan, Sunsari was staying at a rented room in Dholahiti, the police said.
"The cause of the fight remains unknown," said SP Subedi, "We are trying to figure out what sparked the brawl with the help of a CCTV footage. We are also interrogating the 18 individuals arrested to determine the cause."
Even though the police have suspected that the gang fight may have stemmed from a Holi-related argument, it is yet to be confirmed.
