The arrival of a new year ignites a sense of wanderlust in many. What could be a better way to celebrate New Year than exploring new destinations, and tasting new foods?

But you have to take care of the facilities, pleasant atmosphere and time in the places you want to visit.

Here are 10 captivating tourist destinations within Bagmati Province that you can visit to celebrate New Year 2081 BS:

1. Sauraha

Sauraha in Chitwan is the number one tourist destination in Bagmati province. Both domestic and foreign tourists are attracted to this place.

Sauraha is especially known for jungle safaris. Rare one-horned rhinoceros, elephants, and various other animals are major attractions of this place. Being the closest destination to Kathmandu, Sauraha is the first choice for tourists.

2. Indrasarovar Lake

This artificial lake is located in Kulekhani River in Indrasarovar Rural Municipality of Makwanpur.

A large lake surrounded by settlements in the upper part and forests in the lower part, the clear blue water enchants the domestic and foreign tourists.

Not only that, the fun of celebrating New Year by tasting different types of fish raised in the lake can be even more enchanting. It is also called Kulekhani Lake. The sheep farm near the lake is also a good place to visit.

3. Sindhuligadhi



Sindhuligadhi is an important destination in Bagmati Province that one should not forget to include in his/her itinerary. Nestled in the Sindhuli district, this historic site boasts the impressive Sindhuli Fort.

From here, along with the view of the fort, you can see the picturesque plains of the Terai and the mountains to the north. Many people come here to see the history of the bravery of their ancestors. A war museum is an attraction of Sindhuligadhi. Spread over an area of 6,281 square feet, the museum houses the endangered war materials including homemade weapons, cannons, and shells, among others used by the army at that time, during the war. Celebrating the New Year by visiting such historic tourist areas is sure to be fun.

4. Sailung of Dolakha

"Saya Thumka" located in Shailung of Dolakha is known as a beautiful tourist destination in the country.

Located at a height of about 3,400 meters above sea level, 'Saya Thumka' is becoming a favorite destination for domestic tourists recently. It could be a great destination to celebrate the New Year.

Tourists can enjoy a fascinating view from each hillock. From Shailung Hill, you can see the beautiful Gaurishankar, Everest, Machhapuchhre, Ganesh Himal, and other parts of the Terai along with the Kathmandu Valley.

Therefore, Shailung in Dolakha is also an important tourist destination if you are planning to visit in the New Year.

5. Nuwakot Palace

Nuwakot Durbar is a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Spread around 970 meters, the seven-story palace of Nuwakot is a historical and tourist area.

The woodcarvings not only enhance the beauty of the palace but also make it a unique example of archaeology. The panoramic view from the hilltop palace is truly mesmerizing.

Ranipauwa, Thansing Phant, Dhikurephat, Bidur Bazaar, Peepaltar, Battar, Samari Bhanjyang, Khadka Bhanjyang, Jiling and dozens of other villages and settlements can be seen from here. The murmuring waters of the Trishuli and Tadi rivers create a serene atmosphere near the village.

6. Rasuwagadhi

Rasuwagadhi in Rasuwa district is also an important area in terms of tourism and business.

Located at an altitude of about 6,000 feet above sea level, Rasuwagadhi is on the border of Tibet, an autonomous region of Nepal and China. Gosaikunda, Langtang area for trekking, Nagathali, Parwati Kunda and Rasuwagadhi are of historical and tourist importance.

7. Nagarkot

Located at a distance of about 35 km from Kathmandu, Nagarkot is an excellent choice of tourist destination. This place is also naturally beautiful, so Nagarkot has been chosen by many.

Nagarkot is the perfect destination to celebrate the New Year. This idyllic destination boasts breathtaking natural beauty, with the added bonus of spectacular sunrise and sunset views over snow-capped mountains.

8. Latarambheshwar

Latarambheshwar, located in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-8 of Makwanpur, is a picturesque destination that can be reached within a short distance from Kathmandu.

This place is also a center of attraction for those who are thinking of visiting a quiet place free from the dust, smoke and noise of Kathmandu.

To reach Latarambheshwar from Kathmandu, one has to travel 45 km on the Kanti Highway. After this, it can be reached after walking for about one hour.

Also known as W Danda, domestic tourists like to describe it as a piece of heaven when they reach the top of this place and observe the picturesque view.

9. Kathmandu Valley

People who live in Kathmandu want to go outside, but those from the outside districts also want to visit the Valley, don't they? Therefore, the Kathmandu Valley can become an important place for people from outside the valley to visit.

Chisapani is a great destination to make the New Year 2081 memorable by enjoying the view of Gauri Shankar, and Langtang Himal.
