The driver died and the co-driver sustained critical injuries after a tipper met with an accident near Manthalighat in Manthali Municipality-7 of Ramechhap district on Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Pabitra Basnet of Gokulganga Rural Municipality-3, Ramechhap, informed DSP Pradeep Kumar Singh.
Basnet, the driver of the tipper, died on the spot.
Co-driver Manoj Phuyal, 21, of Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-6 sustained critical injuries in the accident. He is undergoing treatment at Manthali Hospital.
The ill-fated tipper, Bagmati Province 01-006-3839, which was heading to Manthali carrying sand from Bhatauli, had fallen some 50 meters off the road and plunged into the Tamakoshi River, according to the police.
