Sindhupalchowk bus mishap: Two out of three killed identified

Two out of three people killed in Sindhupalchowk bus accident have been identified.  

The deceased are Shiva Shrestha, 22, and Man Bahadur Thami, 70, of Bhimeshwar Municipality-1, confirmed Ishwar Manandhar, the mayor of the municipality.

According to DSP Niranjan Bhattarai of the District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk, the bus, "Ba 4 Kha 5616, coming to Tripurasundari Rural Municipality-5, Piskar, of Sindhupalchowk, carrying wedding attendants from Bhimeshwar Municipality-1, Suspa, of Dolakha crashed at Dharawati around 7 am this morning.

“One of the deceased is yet to be identified, the bridegroom also sustained minor injuries. Currently, we are carrying out rescue operations,” said Manandhar.

According to Ramesh Bohara, the ward chairman of Tripurasundari-6, the bus which departed Suspa carrying the bride around 1:30 am skidded and fell some 200 meters off the road and stuck in a cliff this morning.

Even though 52 people were said to have been injured earlier, only 33 have sustained injuries, according to Bohara.

Those who sustained minor injuries are being treated at Khandichaur-based Sadabahar Hospital and those critically injured have been ferried to Dhulikhel Hospital in Kavre.
