When TU library draws throngs of all-nighters …! (video/photos)

TU Library has been offering night services for students for the last six months.

Around 600 students have taken memberships of TU library. Three study rooms have been in operation in the main building and outside the building. Students are seen studying under the shed of a tree and on the lawn outside the library due to the lack of study rooms.

External Affairs Minister of India S Jaishankar had inaugurated the new building of central library of Tribhuvan University amidst a ceremony in Kathmandu in January. The newly constructed building financed by the Indian government is disabled-friendly, said acting head of TU library Sagar Raj Subedi. It has the capacity to accommodate around 200 students.

“We are making preparations to use the new building. The new building is disabled-friendly,” The Internet is yet to be installed. We are planning to use the new building before Dashain,” said Subedi.

Currently, there are 31 staffers at the central library. Books can be borrowed till 7 pm. The new building will be used as a resource library while the old building as a depository building, according to Subedi.
