Newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) Suhang Nembang has taken the oath of office and secrecy today (Wednesday).
Speaker Devraj Ghimire administered the oath of office to MP Nembang at the Hall of Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee in Singha Durbar a while ago.
On the occasion, Ghimire conferred a logo of the House of Representatives on Nembang who was elected as a lawmaker through the by-election held in Ilam Constituency 2, representing CPN (UML).
The officials of the Federal Parliament Secretariat provided a copy of Constitution of Nepal along with other related acts and regulations to Suhang during the event.
Present in the ceremony were Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Padam Giri, Defense Minister Hari Prasad Uprety, chief whips of different political parties, General Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat, Padma Prasad Pandey among others.
Suhang is the son of late UML Vice Chairman Subas Nembang. The by-election was held after Subas Nembang who had been elected from Ilam 2 passed away on September 12, 2023.
UML had fielded Suhang Nembang, the son of Subas Nembang, as the candidate in the Ilam 2 by-election.
Suhang was elected with 27,772 votes by defeating his rival Dambar Khadka of Nepali Congress by a margin of 5,830 votes.
