The Sahayata Foundation in collaboration with the BMDMI Nepal has distributed school bags and education materials to the students of Katunje Basic School at Suryabinayak-5, Bhaktapur.

School bags and education materials were distributed to as many as 225 students of the school for Academic Year 2081 BS amidst a program held recently.

“The school bags and education materials were distributed to 225 students for Academic Year 2081 BS during the program,” said Raju Dhungel, the president of the Foundation, “We will bring other programs, too, to improve quality education of this school.

Speaking at the program, Member of Parliament (MP) Durlav Thapa, who was invited as the chief guest, said, “The distribution of educational materials will not only help improve the quality education at community schools but also help increase the number of students.”

While standing on the grounds where he received his primary education, a wave of nostalgia washed over MP Thapa as he pledged his commitment to paving the entire school compound with blocks. “This is the very ground I used to stand for morning prayers as a child,” Thapa reminisced about his childhood.” A sense of purpose filled him as he declared, “I will pave this entire school compound with blocks in the near future.”

Present in the education materials distribution program were ward chairpersons (Dipendra KC, Lachhuram Neupane, Ishwar Khadka, Bhagawan KC), senior advisor of the Foundation and lyricist Subhash Chandra Dhungel, Subhash Karki, Umesh Adhikari, Kishor Dhungel among others.

Earlier in October 2023, the Sahayata Foundation, a non-government organization, had launched a free-auto-rickshaw transport service at Suryabinayak-5, Katunje, targeting the elderly citizens.
