The Dhanusha District Court has remanded chairman of Kantipur Media Group, Kailash Sirohiya, to three more days in police custody for investigation.
The Dhanusha District Court permitted the District Police Office to investigate media entrepreneur Sirohiya for three days in the dual citizenship case, said DSP Ranjan Awa of the District Police Office, Dhanusha.
“The Court has extended three days’ remand for investigation on Sirohiya,” said Awa.
This is the third time the court has remanded Sirohiya to three more days in custody. Earlier, the court extended remand for six days – three days at a time for Sirohiya.
Sirohiya was arrested from Thapathali-based office of the Kantipur Publications on May 21 and was whisked off to Dhanusha for the investigation in the dual citizenship case.
However, Sirohiya has denied all the allegations dubbing the arrest as an “act of vengeance” for a series of reports published by Kantipur on the embezzlement of cooperative funds.
The government has courted criticisms from various quarters including media fraternity after it arrested Sirohiya.
