Rainy season has started in Nepal as monsoon entered the country from Koshi Province today (June 10).
Earlier, issuing a notice, Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) had informed that the monsoon would start from June 10. Normally, monsoon begins in the country from June 13. This year, it has begun three days earlier than the usual time.
The monsoon will gradually spread towards west and take around a week to reach Sudurpashchim Province, the Division has said.
The monsoon which had arrived in Sikkim on May 31 via Bangladesh and Bhutan took 10 days to arrive in Nepal.
With the entry of the monsoon, the rainy season has formally started in the Himalayan country.
Meteorologists have predicted that Nepal will receive more precipitation than normal this year.
The rainy season will normally exist on October 2.
