Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also the president of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC), has urged former General Secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala to extend support for the elections of Parliamentary Party (PP) leadership.

In a meeting with Koirala, who is also a central committee member of the NC, at Baluwatar on Tuesday morning, Deuba urged the former to support him in the upcoming PP elections.

In response, Koirala said that he would give Deuba his decision in the next meeting.

“We had reached Baluwatar to exchange congratulatory messages this morning,” Bharat Tiwari, the personal aide of Koirala told Nepalkhabar, adding, “Prime Minister Deuba asked him for support.”

Koirala has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Nawalparasi East-1. Koirala is also one of the candidates of the PP leader of the NC.

Koirala is also publicly staking a claim for the post of the Prime Minister.
