It will take two more years to ready the federal parliament building which is under-construction at Putali Bagaincha in Singha Durbar.
Only 60 percent work of the new parliament building has been completed so far. The Special Building Construction Project Coordination Office under the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction is constructing the building.
The tender process for the interior and furnishing works of the building has been taken forward. The buildings to be constructed on the premises will be three to five-story buildings. The hall of the House of Representatives will accommodate 400 seats while that of National Assembly can accommodate 100 seats.
On October 3, 2019, the project coordination office had awarded the contract to Tundi Sheikh JV, the construction company, for Rs 5,683,900,000.
It is estimated that the entire cost of building construction including that of furnishing will cross seven billion rupees.
The building will have a common lobby, offices of VVIP persons, libraries and museums, parliamentary party offices, and parliamentary secretariat buildings.
Similarly, there will be a canteen, a press printing house, a parking lot for 700 vehicles, and a separate building that can accommodate around 300 security personnel.
