The Parliament Secretariat has given a letter to the Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra Shumsher Rana stating that the impeachment leveled against the latter is 'null and void'.

On Tuesday, Rana filed a petition at the Parliament Secretariat seeking information about the status of his impeachment.

In response to the petition, General Secretary of Parliament Secretariat Dr. Bharat Raj Gautam handed Rana a letter stating that Rana's impeachment was 'null and void' effective from Wednesday.

Rojnath Pandey, the spokesperson of the Parliament Secretariat, told Nepalkhabar that the reply to the letter written by Rana has been sent today.

"The reply to the petition filed by Rana has been sent today," said Pandey, "I don't know whether the impeachment has been inactive or not."
