Locals set a fire to a vehicle belonging to the railway survey team in Chitwan.
The irate locals took the vehicle of RH Consultancy under control at Bharatpur Metropolitan City-7 and set it ablaze on Wednesday morning, informed DSP Bhesh Raj Rijal of District Police Office (DPO), Chitwan.
“A group of 200 to 300 irate locals gathered at Bharatpur Metropolitan City-7, Krishnapur, took the survey team under control and set a fire to their vehicle on Wednesday morning,” said DSP Rijal.
The fire on the vehicle was contained with the help of a fire-fighter of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.
Locals of Chitwan have been staging a series of protests against the the East-West railway survey route, which cuts through their settlements.
They have been demanding a change to the survey route avoiding their settlements, said Dibya Neupane, the secretary of the railway victims struggle committee.
