The three youths who went missing after their vehicle fell into the Sunkoshi River on Saturday evening from Golanjor Rural Municipality-1 Kundule, Sindhuli have not been found yet.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Govinda Raj Kafle of District Police Office, Sindhuli informed that even though the search for the missing persons is going on since the incident, they have not been found yet.
Four youths from Bhaktapur who were coming to Kathmandu after visiting the Halesi Mahadev Temple in Khotang fell into the Sunkoshi River from Golanjor Rural Municipality-1, Kundule yesterday evening.
"The vehicle that went missing in the river was pulled out of the river at 2 am today," said SP Kafle, "but the three youths who were inside the vehicle have not been found yet."
Among those missing are 32-year-old Abin Banke, 30-year-old Pranit Syagu and 37-year-old Balaram Ghatuwa of Suryabinayak Municipality, Bhaktapur. Abin is a Hilux driver.
The 27-year-old Sushant Kashapati of Bhaktapur, who was riding in the same vehicle, saved his life by jumping out of the vehicle during the accident. DSP Anil Kumar Khadka of District Police Office Sindhuli informed that he is undergoing treatment for minor injuries.
SP Kafle said that security personnel have been deployed in search of the three missing youths since Sunday morning.
"I am now at the incident site," he told Nepalkhabar, "A rescue team from Nepal Police, Armed Police, Nepali Army and locals are searching for the missing persons up to 10 kilometers below the incident site."
A diving team of the armed forces found the vehicle submerged about 25 feet below the surface of the river. The vehicle fell some 50 meters down the road and plunged into the river after it went out of control, the police said. The three persons who were traveling in the vehicle have gone missing.
"Due to the flooding, the water in the Sunkoshi River is very murky. The missing may have been covered by sand. We are searching every possible way," SP Kafle said.
