EC asks parties to rectify closed list of PR candidates by Monday 4 pm

The Election Commission (EC) has given till 4 pm tomorrow (Monday) to the political parties to rectify the details of the closed-list of the proportional representative (PR) candidates submitted earlier.

The commission asked parties to correct the mistakes, if any, and send the details again to the election body.

Providing information in this regard, Election Commission Spokesperson for PR system Guru Prasad Wagle said no errors were found in the closed list of PR candidates submitted by the parties for the House of Representatives (HoR).

He, however, added that there were errors in the details of PR candidates sent by some political parties for the Provincial Assembly and correspondence in this regard was done to the political parties to correct the details and send them to the commission.

He said that the candidates would be declared elected and certificates distributed after the commission receives corrected details from the parties.

He said, "When we investigated today, we found few errors in the closed list of PR candidates submitted by some political parties. We have written to those parties regarding that matter and asked them to correct the details and submit them to the commission by 4 pm tomorrow."

He said that 14 political parties received votes to elect candidates under PR category and all of them had submitted the closed list of PR candidates on Saturday.
