After the case of cooperative fraud, organized crime and money laundering was filed against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, Vice President Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal has been appointed as the acting president.
A source close to President Lamichhane has informed that Aryal was given the responsibility of the acting president after the charge-sheet was filed against him in the Kaski District Court on Sunday.
"Vice President Aryal has been assigned as the acting president. Many leaders are in Pokhara. The party will formally make the information public shortly,’ the source said.
Parliamentary Party Deputy Leader Biraj Bhakta Shrestha also confirmed that Aryal has been assigned as the acting president.
"The President has assigned DP Aryal as the acting president," Shrestha said, "They had been making preparations for the last few days to this end in coordination with Acting General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti."
