The government has concluded that the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, facilitated by an agreement between India and China is not a matter of worry.
Making public the cabinet decisions on Thursday, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, who is also the spokesperson of the government, said the decision will not infringe upon the sovereignty of Nepal.
"The decision will not infringe upon our sovereignty, nor our map of Nepal," stated Gurung. "This is a technical issue pertaining to India and China. The cabinet meeting thoroughly discussed the matter and concluded that it is not a cause for concern."
Indian Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in a meeting held in Beijing last week agreed to resume the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra that had been suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The path to Mansarovar lies via Lipulekh and Kalapani of Nepal. Some parties in Nepal have expressed discontent saying that India and China agreed to resume the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra without consulting with Nepal.
