Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) has urged the government to distribute compensation to the rightful owners of land acquired inTinkune.

Mayor Balen made this request while inaugurating the Kateshwor Festival in Kathmandu on Friday.

Since the current government holds two-thirds majority, there will be no problem for it in distributing compensation even if choses to do so.

He suggested that the landowners should pile pressure on local and federal governments for the compensation, as it holds a two-thirds majority.

He added, "The government has, in a way, captured the land of individuals. The compensation must be provided to the rightful owners. But, unfortunately, it has not initiated even a process to this effect. The government can do it if it really wants as it holds the two-thirds majority.

Mayor Shah said that the Koteshwor Fair must showcase local products and crafts that represent the unique identity of Koteshwor region.
