The government has adopted a policy to prevent teacher shortages in community schools. Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel mentioned that this issue has been included in the budget for the fiscal year 2082-83 BS.
“To address the shortage of teachers in English, Science, and Mathematics subjects, a ‘Teacher Bank’ will be established in collaboration with universities,” Paudel said.
Similarly, a policy has been adopted to address the declining number of students in community schools.
“Schools will be remapped based on the availability of teachers and students, institutional and geographical distance, and transportation facilities,” Paudel added. “Based on the remapping, a policy to merge schools will be adopted. Incentive grants have been arranged for merged schools. Teacher quotas will be reviewed. Periodic training will be arranged to enhance teachers’ skills.”
He stated that the scope of institutional social responsibility will be expanded, with policies implemented to harness it for improving school education outcomes and quality. Additionally, successful management practices from community and private schools will be adopted to elevate the standards of other community schools.
Skilled, entrepreneurial, and productive human capital capable of building their own future will be developed. The education system will be modernized and made technology-friendly.
At least one school in each district will be selected, and an incentive program based on educational outcomes will be implemented in one hundred schools. These schools will assist in improving the performance of other schools. A grant of NPR 2.5 million will be provided to each of these schools for this purpose.
