The government has decided not to increase the salaries of employees in the new budget.

Unveiling the budget for the fiscal year (FY) 2024/25 in the House meeting on Thursday, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel announced that the dearness allowance will be increased by 5,000 rupees, instead.

"Although we recognized the need to make the service facilities of civil servants time-appropriate, the pressure on resource management made it impossible to increase salaries as expected," said Paudel,

"However, I have increased the dearness allowance by 5,000 rupees per month, effective from July 17, for all civil servants."
