The General Secretary of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), Kiran Rai, has been suspended.
Bir Bahadur Khadka, who is serving as the Acting President, suspended Rai citing his failure to furnish a clarification.
ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang and General Secretary Rai are currently in Saudi Arabia. They traveled to Saudi Arabia for an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) program. Due to the President's absence abroad, Khadka took on the responsibility as Acting President.
The suspension letter written by Khadka mentions that Rai was suspended because he has not furnished any response to the clarification within a three-day deadline sought.
The letter states, "You were required to furnish a clarification within 3 days, explaining the basis and instructions for your actions, which violated the Association's statutes and procedures and pose a long-term detrimental impact on the football development."
As no response has been received from you till date, we inform you that you are suspended from the post of ANFA General Secretary, effective from today." The letter further adds, "We also inform you that Damodar Bhattarai, Deputy General Secretary of the Association, has been appointed to work as the Acting General Secretary for the said period."
However, the ANFA Secretariat has claimed that no official letter regarding this matter has been sent. An employee of the Secretariat told Nepalkhabar, "It's just a rumor. As far as I know, no official letter has been dispatched from the Secretariat."
