Biratnagar Kings secured a second consecutive win by defeating Kathmandu Gorkhas by 5 wickets in the eight match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) held in Kirtipur today. On the other hand, this is the second defeat for Kathmandu in the ongoing NPL.
Biratnagar had defeated Pokhara Avengers by 53 runs in the first match. Kathmandu, on the other hand, had beaten Janakpur Bolts by five wickets in its first match. In the second match, it lost to Sudurpashchim Royals by 29 runs.
Chasing the 135-run target set by Kathmandu, Biratnagar reached it in 17.1 overs losing 5 fives.
For Biratnagar's victory, George Munsey scored the highest 36 runs followed by Martin Guptill with 25 runs while Naren Bhatta contributed 24 runs. Similarly, Basir Ahamad and Lokesh Bam scored 19 and 14 runs, respectively.

In reply, Shahab Alam took 2 wickets followed by Santosh Yadav, Karan KC and Gerhard Erasmus grabbed 1 wicket each for Kathmandu.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Saturday, Kathmandu Gorkhas notched up 134 runs losing 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Mohammad Aadil Alam topped the score with 48 runs followed by Ben Charlesworth with 32 runs while Santosh Yadav and Gerhard Erasmus contributed 26 and 10 runs, respectively.
On the bowling side, Marchant de Lange took the highest 2 wickets while Shubham Ranjane, Surya Tamang and Sandeep Lamichhane grabbed 1 wicket each for Biratnagar.
In the first match held today, Karnali Yaks registered their first victory in the NPL by defeating Lumbini Lions by nine wickets.
Now, two matches will be played in the NPL on Monday. In the first match on Monday, Janakpur Bolts and Biratnagar Kings will face each other at 11:45 am. In the second match, Sudurpashchim Royals will play against Karnali Yaks at 4 pm.
