Lumbini Lions has defeated Pokhara Avengers by 3 wickets in the 17th match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) held in Kirtipur.
Chasing 151-run target set by Pokhara, Lumbini reached it in 19.4 overs losing 7 wickets.
Rohit Paudel topped the score with 40 runs including 3 fours and 2 sixes off 36 deliveries followed by Niroshan Dickwella
with 37 runs while Sundeep Jora and Gulbadin Naib contributed 25 and 17 runs. Similarly, Dilip Jora collected 10 runs. The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.
Bipin Khatri, Matt Taylor and Sagar Dhakal grabbed 2 wickets while James Neesham grabbed 1 wicket for Pokhara.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss at the TU International Cricket Ground on Saturday, Pokhara notched up 150 runs losing 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Adam Rossington topped the score with 81 runs including 7 fours and 5 sixes off 63 deliveries followed by James Neesham with 51 runs. The other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.
In reply, Sher Malla and Tika Bhandari took 2 wickets each while Gulbadin Naib grabbed 1 wicket for Lumbini.
Lumbini, led by captain Rohit Paudel, has won one out of four matches, and Pokhara, led by captain Kushal Bhurtel, has also won one out of three matches. Lumbini is in seventh place in the points table, while Pokhara is in the sixth place. Both teams need to win this match to keep their playoff hopes alive.
