Donations have poured in for a fund-raising campaign to fund the knee surgery of Sabitra Bhandari, the captain of Nepal national football team.
Until the posting of this news, 496 donors have donated up to $19,792 out the $135,000 fund raising target. The surgery is estimated to cost around $80K. According to doctors, Bhandari needs six to seven months for rehabilitation after surgery which will incur additional expenses.
She is planning her second ACL knee surgery at the best facility of Aspetar in Qatar, Doha, which is very costly, according to the information posted on her Facebook.
Her last surgery was supported by the ANFA, but the current leadership didn't just deny her support but kept her waiting for more than six weeks, ultimately denying any administrative support.
Hence, Bhandari, widely known as ‘Samba’, has made this appeal for donation for the ACL knee surgery due to lack of adequate support from the FA.
As captain of Nepal’s women’s national football team, she has inspired countless young girls to dream beyond boundaries and believe that nothing is impossible.
Through sheer hard work, she became Nepal’s most feared striker and earned an overseas contract with Wellington Phoenix FC, proudly representing both Nepal and New Zealand on the professional stage.
Samba gave her all for Nepal and created biggest moments. Now, it is our turn to stand by her.
