The Central Disciplinary Committee of Nepali Congress is set to withdraw the clarification sought against outgoing acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka.
The meeting of the disciplinary committee to be held at 3 pm today will withdraw the clarification sought against Khadka. NC Disciplinary Committee Coordinator Taraman Gurung said that the clarification sought against Khadka will be withdrawn.
He said that the Committee has decided to withdraw the clarification after the outgoing acting president Khadka accepted the Supreme Court's decision. NC had asked Khadka for a seven-day explanation on April 15.
On January 16, outgoing president Sher Bahadur Deuba and Khadka had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against the Election Commission's decision to recognize the Thapa-led Central Working Committee (CWC).
After the Supreme Court upheld the commission's decision on Friday and dismissed the writ petition filed by Deuba and Khadka, efforts are underway in the Congress to reach a consensus among the two factions in the party.
On Sunday evening, President Thapa met Khadka at his residence in Golfutar.
