Prime Minister Balendra Shah has initiated internal preparations to remove ministers who have failed to deliver satisfactory results. The decision comes following a performance evaluation conducted by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, based on the government’s 100-point governance reform agenda.
According to a member of the Prime Minister’s secretariat, three ministers are currently facing removal. The positions of Health Minister Nisha Mehta, Agriculture Minister Gita Chaudhary, and Industry Minister Gauri Kumari Yadav are reportedly in jeopardy due to their underwhelming performance scores.
"The Prime Minister is not satisfied with the performance of three ministers. He is in a mood to seek alternatives once the budget is passed," a secretariat member said. "The PM is very clear about not keeping those who cannot deliver result-oriented work and bidding them farewell."
The performance review is not limited to political leadership. Out of the 70 active secretaries across various ministries and constitutional bodies, the government has identified five secretaries whose responsibilities need to be reshuffled. A joint secretary at the PM's office revealed that they are also investigating complaints where lack of coordination from secretaries hindered ministerial performance.
Unlike previous administrations, where evaluation reports were reportedly confined to media headlines without leading to real action, the current administration plans to enforce strict accountability. The evaluation team's report is in its final stages and is expected to be implemented immediately upon submission to the Prime Minister.
