Gandaki Province holding speaker's election today

Lawmaker of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Krishna Prasad Dhital, is being fielded as the candidate of Speaker at Gandaki Province Assembly. The election to the Speaker is being held today (Saturday).

Dhital is the candidate on behalf of ruling alliance. The parliamentary party meeting of the Maoist Centre in the province on Friday evening decided to file Dhital's candidacy for the election of Speaker.

Dhital is elected under the FPTP from constituency no 1 (a) of Gorkha district in November 20 election.

However, the opposition Nepali Congress has not finalized the candidate so far. In the 60-member Assembly in Gandaki Province, opposition NC has 27 lawmakers, while UML 22, Maoist Centre 8, RPP two and independent one.
