80% of Acharya’s body charred as he attempts to self-immolate in New Baneshwor

Eighty percent of the body of Prem Prasad Acharya, who set himself on fire in front of federal parliament building in New Baneshwor, has been burnt.

According to Dr Kiran Nakarmi, the head of the burn department of Kirtipur Burn Hospital, 80 percent of Acharya’s body has been charred.

"The 80 percent of his body is burnt", Nakarmi told Nepalkhabar, "We are trying to save him." But it's been difficult because of massive burns.”

Acharya, who originally hails from Ilam, attempted to self-immolate in front of federal parliament building in New Baneshwar on Tuesday afternoon.

The youth tried to commit suicide by setting himself on fire while Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ was exiting in his vehicle after participating in the meeting of the House of Representatives this afternoon.

Acharya was rushed to the hospital, informed SP Dinesh Raj Mainali, the spokesperson of Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu.

Currently, he is undergoing treatment at Kirtipur Burn Hospital.
