Darchula avalanche: Five go missing, seven safe

Five people have gone missing in an avalanche that occurred at Changru in Byans Rural Municipality-1, Darchula.

According to Chief District Officer (CDO) Kiran Joshi, four men and one woman are among those missing.

A team led by DSP Ishwari Bhatta of Armed Police Force and a team of Nepal Police have reached the incident site for rescue.

Out of 12 people, who went to collect Yarsagumba (caterpillar fungus), five people were caught in the avalanche, according to police.

People who went to the base of Nampa Mountain to collect yarsa were caught in an avalanche while returning to their tented shelter.

The other seven people are safe, said police.
