After winning one more seat in the by-elections held recently, there has been a high morale in Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

With the addition of one seat in the House of Representatives, RSP has decided to launch a nationwide organizational expansion campaign.

After introducing the scheme, the number of people taking membership of the RSP is reaching 700 on a daily basis, RSP leaders said.

With the attraction of the general public towards RSP on the increase, the RSP is preparing to expand the organization across the country.

RSP is making preparations to deploy leaders from village to village to this effect.

In the election on November 20 (last year), RSP won seven seats under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) category and 13 MPs under the proportional representation category after receiving 1.1 million votes.

The attraction has increased further with the handsome win in the by-elections held on April 23, claimed RSP Deputy General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti.

RSP has managed to wrest Tanahun 1 by-election earlier won by Nepali Congress in the general elections on November 20 (last year). Similarly, in Chitwan 2, Chairman Rabi Lamichhane won by receiving about 5,000 more votes than before.

Umesh Shrestha of Nepali Congress and Krishna Bhakta Pokharel of CPN (UML) contested against Rabi on November 20.

"After the by-election, the number of people applying for our party membership has increased by 20 percent," Burlakoti told Nepalkhabar.

"The number of people filling out forms for party membership has increased from 500 to 700 on a daily basis," he added, "We have also made a mobile app, from which online membership can be filled out, so there has been demand from home to abroad."

He said that 100,000 applications have been received for membership so far.

"However, only 25,000 to 30,000 applications have been approved, the rest are in the process," added Burlakoti.

RSP, which was formed on June 21 last year, got an unprecedented success in the election of the House of Representatives. That's why even the leaders of big and old parties are getting attracted to RSP, said an official.

"Leaders who have been in politics for a long time in Congress are ready to join RSP, the district leaders will announce in a few days," said the leader, adding, "We are also in discussion with UML and Maoist Center leaders."

But he did not want to reveal the names of the leaders.

He said the party has planned to distribute only 100,000 memberships.

However, RSP estimates that the number of people willing to fill out forms online for party membership will exceed 300,000.

RSP, which is weak in Karnali and Madhesh, has proven that there is not much attraction towards the party in Madhesh and Karnali provinces. Not much enthusiasm has been seen in the Koshi Pradesh either.

"Even though aggressive organizations will expand in five provinces, we will have to work hard in Karnali and Madhesh," said Dr. Mukul Dhakal, who is also the party spokesperson.

Dhakal said, "In the coming days, we will give priority to those provinces where our organization is weak."

In the by-election of Bara 2 on April 23, Ramesh Kharel, the candidate of RSP, got very few votes.

That's why RSP will pay special attention to Madhesh and Karnali and Koship provinces when preparing the next program.

A central committee (CC) meeting held on Monday decided to send the leaders to villages to expand the organization aggressively.

To form ward, municipality and regional committees
In order to form organizations and communicate from the wards to the center, the RSP has created a three-level structure - wards, municipalities and constituencies.

Leaders under various responsibilities will be deployed to form the organizations.

The process of forming a committee in every ward and municipality has already started.

Earlier, RSP has formed a province committee. But it did not run for the Provincial Assembly elections in the November elections.

In the case of a rural municipality, there should be at least 33 members to assemble a ward, and 45 members in a municipal ward.

Similarly, there is a provision that there must be at least 55 members to form ward committees of sub-metropolitan and metropolitan cities.

On the other hand, the RSP, which has specified at least 55 members to form a municipal committee, has stated that there should be 66 members to form a municipal committee and 77 members to form a sub-metropolitan/metropolitan committee.

According to him, RSP has opened online applications for candidates to form committees in 165 constituencies.

Preparations are underway to take applications until May 13 and to hold elections by May 21 to form the Federal Election Regional Committee.

The CC meeting of RSP held on Monday decided to pick 37 department heads.
