Electric vehicles of Sajha Yatayat have started plying the Patandhoka-Ratnapark-Jorpati route from today.
After a long hiatus of route number 26, Sajha Yatayat has started electric bus service.
Out of the 40 buses brought in by Sajha Yatayat, three will run on this route in the first phase. It is said that other 15 buses will ply the route in the next two weeks.
Lalitpur Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan has requested the Sajha to operate regular buses from 5 am to 9 pm.
He said that many locals complained about the closure of the old route from Patandhoka, but now it has been resolved, with the operation of the electric vehicles.
Kanak Mani Dixit, Chairman of Sajha Yatayat, said that it would help connect the three cities of Lalitpur, Kathmandu and Gokarneshwar. He said that Sajha was able to purchase electric buses because the government invested Rs 3 billion in shares. He informed that a study is underway to bring 70 to 80 more electric buses.

Dixit said that there was a problem in the operation of all the buses since the government did not provide land for the charging station.
Even though, during the tenure of Sher Bahadur Deuba as the prime minister, a list of places like Sallaghari, Khumaltar, Gurjudhara, Trolleybus Depot, Cooperative Development Board's premises in Pulchowk was prepared, but there was no initiative to give it to Sajha Yatayat.
Lalitpur Mayor Maharjan assured that he would support the Sajha Yatayat to have a charging station.
