Six political parties have decided to forge an alliance called 'Socialist Front Nepal'.

Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Vice Chairman and Spokesperson of the CPN (Maoist Center) informed that the Front will be announced within two to three days.

It is being announced after the parties agreed on the 15-point policy commitments of the Front. Maoist Center, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), CPN (Unified Socialist) Party, Nepal Samajbadi Party (NSP), and Nepal Communist Party are ready to form the Front.

Efforts are being made to include Rastriya Ekata Abhiyan Nepal led by Bamdev Gautam. The number of parties in the Front will increase to six if they agree to Friday's discussions.

The leaders say that they are going to announce the Front after giving a final touch to the initial draft.

Rajendra Shrestha, a senior leader of JSP, said that 15 points of procedures and policy commitments have been prepared.

"Five parties have agreed," he told Nepalkhabar, adding that the draft has been distributed for study.

Jagannath Khatiwada, Deputy General Secretary of the Unified Socialist, informed that once the leaders hold meetings of their respective parties, the draft will be completed by incorporating all the suggestions and a comprehensive program will be announced.

" Socialist Front Nepal will be announced by June 20," he told Nepalkhabar.

Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand and Gautam's Rastriya Ekta Abhiyan Nepal are not in the parliament. Dr Baburam Bhattarai-led NSP is trying to unite with the Maoist Center.

The NSP contested the general elections with the election symbol of the Maoist Center. It has one Member of Parliament (MP).

There are 12 MPs from JSP led by Upendra Yadav and 10 MPs from the Unified Socialist-led by Madhav Kumar Nepal. When all the parties are included, the Front will have 54 MPs and it will be the third largest power in the Parliament.

This is the proposed structure of Samajbadi Morcha Nepal
According to the leaders, in the draft, Samajbadi Morcha Nepal is called "Socialist Front Nepal" in English.

There will be a rotating system of chairmanship in the Front with a certain number of designated members. And this number is determined based on the membership of the parties. The mechanism of the Front will reach out to all 753 local units.

"This draft will be submitted for endorsement after incorporating the feedback given by the parties," JSP leader Shrestha said, "it may take two days at most."

He said that after announcing the front, the rest jobs will be done.

"We will do many other things, including mechanisms up to the province and local units," he added.

Prachanda, chairman of the Maoist Center, who is also the Prime Minister, and NSP Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai held discussions on this issue on Friday.

Bhattarai said that the Front has to be formed to take the society in the direction of continuous progress while protecting the achievements of the federal democratic republic so far in the country.

"There is an agreement to hold intensive discussions among all possible parties on issues such as ideas, policies, programs, and organizational structure to build a broad socialist front," said Bhattarai.

On Friday, the secretariat meeting of the Unified Socialist decided to proceed with suggestions after discussing the 15-point draft proposed to form the Front.

Prime Minister's Press Adviser Govinda Acharya informed that a meeting of the top leaders will be held and the announcement date will be fixed.

"The top leaders will hold a meeting and fix the date for the announcement of the Front," he said.

Shrestha, a senior leader of the JSP, said the Front is the present-day need to protect federalism and institutionalize the political achievements made so far in the country.
