Sita Dahal, the central advisor of CPN (Maoist Center), has been cremated with state honors at Pashupati Aryaghat on Wednesday afternoon.

The national flag of Nepal was draped over the mortal remains of Sita Dahal as a final tribute. Prime Minister Dahal lit her funeral pyre. Late Dahal's daughters Renu Dahal and Ganga Dahal also joined their father in the last rites ritual of their mother.

Present at the Aryaghat to pay tributes to the late Sita Dahal were Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, CPN (UML) Chairman KP Oli, ministers, government officials among others.

Meanwhile, a squad of Nepali Army offered a round of salutes in honor of Dahal amidst the presence of hundreds of well-wishers and people in general who attended the funeral rites

Dahal passed away at the age of 69 in the course of treatment at Norvic Hospital in Thapathali at 8:33 am today.

Earlier, Sita’s mortal remains had been kept at the central party office in Paris Danda from 11 am to 1 pm for paying tributes before being taken to Aryaghat. A party flag was draped on her body and a minute of silence was observed.

Leaders including CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Nepal, Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, Indian entrepreneur Sardar Pritam Singh, Maoist Center Vice Chairman Agni Sapkota, General Secretary Dev Gurung, Nepali Congress leader Minendra Rijal had reached Paris Danda to extend tribute to Dahal.
