United Arab Emirates (UAE) defeated Nepal by six wickets in the semifinal of the ACC Premier Cup held at Al Amerat in Oman on Friday.
UAE reached the target in 17.2 overs losing four wickets.
To reach the target, Alishan Sharafu topped the score with not out 55 runs including three fours and two sixes. Vishnu Sukumaran smashed 28 runs followed by Syed Haider with 14 runs. Similarly, Muhammad Waseem contributed 11 runs.
On the bowling side, Gulsan Jha took two wickets while Sompal Kami and Lalit Rajbanshi grabbed one wicket each for Nepal.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal notched up 119 runs losing nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Sundeep Jora topped the score with 50 runs including four fours and two sixes off 40 balls followed by Gulsan Jha with 20 runs while Karan KC contributed 17 runs. The other batsmen could not reach double-digit runs.
In reply, Junaid Siddique, Ali Naseer and Basil Hameed took two wickets each while Omid Shafi Rahman, Aayan Afzal Khan and Muhammad Farooq grabbed one wicket each for UAE.
With this defeat, Nepal has crashed out of its journey to the final of the ACC Premier Cup.
Nepal will now take on either Oman or Hong Kong for the third place on Saturday.
