Two people were killed when a swollen river swept away a jeep in Ilam district on Monday afternoon.
According to police, two people lost their lives after a jeep was washed away by a swollen Ratuwa river in Chulachuli Rural Municipality-5.
The jeep was coming to Damak from Larumba.
The deceased are a woman and a toddler. Their bodies have been recovered, said SP Prabhu Dhakal of the District Police Office, Ilam.
Six people were traveling in the ill-fated jeep. The remaining four have been rescued.
The jeep is still in the river and efforts are being made to retrieve it, said Dhakal
