All the mules trapped in the suspension bridge over the Karnali Bridge have been retrieved.

Thirteen mules got precariously stranded after the deck of the suspension bridge tilted following the sudden snap of two support cables, DSP of District Police Office, Dailekh, Sunil Dahal, told Nepalkhabar.

According to Dahal, 10 among those trapped in the bridge were deliberately pushed down the bridge in a last-ditch rescue effort. Eight of them fell into the waters and rescued alive while the two died as they fell onto the riverbank.

The reaming three mules were rescued from the bridge itself with the help of a wire rope after the weight lessened due to the other mules being off the bridge, according to Dahal.

Acting on tip-off, a rescue team from the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force reached the incident site and rescued the mules within three hours of the incident.

The deck of the suspension bridge connecting Aathbis-4 in Dailekh to Binayak Municipality in Achham tilted after two suspenders snapped suddenly when many mules started crossing the bridge at the same time.

The incident occurred around 10 am today.
