Two houses buried in landslide

The landslide occurred at Phaktanglung Rural Municipality-6 in Taplejung district on Tuesday night swept away a house and buried another one.

A hotel run by a local Tshering Thakche Sherpa near the Ghunsa bridge was washed away while his another house in the vicinity was buried. However, no human casualties were reported in the incident.

Similarly, a bridge over Ghunsa rivulet along the trekking route towards Kanchanjangha basecamp was damaged by the landslide, said ward chairperson, Pemba Tasi Sherpa.

People's movement has been disrupted after the landslide swept away the essential structure to cross the rivulet. We are planning for a makeshift bridge, added ward chairperson Sherpa.
