PM lays foundation stone for UML central party office building (photos/video)

A foundation stone has been laid for the construction of a new central party office building today.

Prime Minister and CPN (UML) KP Sharma Oli laid a foundation stone amidst a Hindu ritual near Tinthana at Kirtipur Municipality-2 a while ago.

The building is being constructed in the area of 10 ropanis and 14 anas of land donated by Bhatbhateni Supermarket owner Nirmal Gurung, informed UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, Senior Vice Chairman Ishwar Pokharel, General Secretary Pokharel, Bhatbhateni Supermarket owner Gurung among others were present at the foundation stone laying ceremony.

UML has been renting various buildings across the city including locations in Dhumbarahi, Thapathali, and Chyasal after its Bhalkhu-based central party office building was destroyed by the 2015 mega earthquake.

A secretariat meeting held at Chyasal, Lalitpur on Thursday decided to lay a foundation stone for the construction of the party's central office building on Thursday.

The name of the new office building will be Madan Bhandari Memorial Building, according to the decision.
