Snowfall has been occurring in mountainous districts Humla, Jumla, Dolpa, and Kalikot of Karnali Province since Friday night.

Heavy snowfall has brought daily life in the region to a grinding halt, disrupting transportation and government and non-government services.

This is the third time, Humla has witnessed snowfall. Simkot, the district headquarters of Humla, and the northern part of Humla have received heavy snowfall. Similarly, the Rara Lake, a popular tourist destination in Mugu district, has been covered by snow.

Despite the biting cold, the snowfall, however, has brought cheers to farmers. They are hopeful that their winter crops including millet, Chinu, and buckwheat will have a good yield.

With the snowfall, the mercury has dipped to minus 8 degrees Celsius in Humla, 3 degrees in Jumla, and 15 in Surkhet, the Meteorological Forecasting Division has said.
